Jerry Brown. The Sonora resident has been a partner at Downey Brand LLP since 2000, following 16 years of practice at Steinheimer, Riggio, Haydel & Mordaunt in Stockton. 1986 Mark Amberg joined the Portland City Attorney’s Office in the labor and employment section. He formerly served as deputy counsel for Deschutes County and was a shareholder for a statewide Oregon firm. | Deborah Barnes was selected as magistrate judge for the Eastern District of California. 1987 Robert Cutbirth has been named a partner for Tucker Ellis LLP. | Deborah Ortiz was named chief executive officer of Opening Doors, a nonprofit agency that helps refugees and immigrants through job training and access to legal and social services. She is a former assemblywoman and state senator. | Jeanne Scherer has been appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown as chief counsel at the California Department of Transportation, where she has been Fredericka McGee, ’91, has joined the American Beverage Association as the vice president of California government affairs & operations. She most recently served as California State Assembly general counsel and deputy chief of staff with Speaker Toni G. Atkins, and left the Assembly with 21 years of service.
