Alumni News 32 summer / fal l 20 1 6 Alumni Willard Weddell, ’60, died on March 31, 2016, at the age of 83. He served as Kern County’s first public defender from 1969 to 1995. Norm Robison, ’71, died at the age of 78 on Aug. 9, 2015, in Carson City. A longtime Douglas County District Court judge, he also served as a senior judge for the past decade in courts throughout Nevada. John F. Bowman, ’72, died at the age of 85 on Oct. 12, 2015, in Sacramento after a long struggle with COPD. He was a partner in Bowman & Bowman, practicing criminal defense law for more than three decades. Richard Corbin, ’72, died at the age of 76 on Jan. 10, 2016, in Elk Grove after a five-year battle with cancer. A longtime Sacramento attorney, he specialized in mining law, and his unusual niche practice took him all over the world. Ronald Collett, ’74, died at the age of 66 on April 8, 2015, in Tempe, Ariz. After starting his career as a prosecutor, he moved to the private sector, eventually becoming a partner at Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, where he excelled as a P.I. and wrongful death specialist. Thomas Rainey, ’74, died at the age of 67 on July 12, 2015, in Sacramento. He practiced law for 10 years before starting a long, successful career in retail sales. David Druliner, ’75, died at the age of 68 on Oct. 29, 2015, in Carmichael. He was the prosecutor in numerous high-profile criminal cases as a Sacramento County assistant district attorney and later served in a similar role statewide for the California Attorney General’s Office. Paul Giese, ’77, died at the age of 69 on March 26, 2015, in Aurora, Colo. He practiced law for many years in Nevada, including a stint at the Nevada Public Defender’s Office after undergoing a heart transplant in 1999. Francine T. Kammeyer Krug, ’77, died at the age of 64 on July 21, 2015, in Sacramento. She practiced law for 37 years, the last 25 with the state, where she served as chief counsel for the Department of Food and Agriculture, and as senior staff counsel with the Department of Social Services. Jeffrey Prather, ’78, died at the age of 67 on Jan. 11, 2016, in Modesto. He practiced bankruptcy law and family law, and operated a family mediation center in Stanislaus County. Bruce Alexander, ’80, died at the age of 77 on Aug. 24, 2015, in Sacramento. He operated a general practice with an emphasis on workers’ compensation law for nearly three decades. Kenneth Kay,* ’80, LL.M. ’85, died at the age of 58 on May 5, 2014, in Fresno. Peggy Neiswender, ’83, died at the age of 63 on Sept. 7, 2015, in Fair Oaks. Known for her artistic abilities, she was active in many of the Sacramento suburb’s community events. Norman Barth, ’84, died at the age of 79 on Nov. 11, 2015, in Sacramento. He taught political science and criminal law at Sacramento City College for three decades, and was a cofounder of the Sacramento AIDS legal referral panel. Robert Chally, ’84, died at the age of 61 on Aug. 29, 2015, in Sacramento. He served as an auditor and hearing officer for the IRS and Franchise Tax Board, retiring in 2009 after 30 years of service. Maura Byrne, ’85, died at the age of 72 on Aug. 7, 2015, in San Diego. She was in private practice in memoriam *corrected from Kenneth Ray in the last issue of Pacific Law.
