Kirlin. paci f i c l aw 7 S t e v e Y e at e r New Programs in Public Policy and Administration This fall, students will arrive on campus to pursue the new McGeorge Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) full-time day program, and the Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) part-time program with evening and block courses to serve working professionals. In July 2015, experienced university leader and public policy executive John J. Kirlin was appointed as the law school’s founding director of the Public Policy programs and as distinguished professor of public policy. McGeorge also appointed well-known leader in public law and administration Chester A. (Chet) Newland as senior professor of public administration. Parker Named CEO of State Bar The Board of Trustees of the State Bar of California has named Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker, dean emerita of the McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, as its next executive director/ chief executive officer. She assumed her responsibilities on Sept. 1, 2015. Rankings Roundup The U.S. News & World Report 2017 Best Graduate Schools Guide includes rankings for the nation’s 196 ABA–accredited law schools. McGeorge rose in the overall rankings to 144 in the 2017 guide. McGeorge was ranked this year as No. 12 in Trial Advocacy and No. 25 in International Law. Additionally, McGeorge was ranked No. 38 in part-time law programs and No. 60 on a list of the top 100 most diverse schools this year. U.S. News & World Report has ranked McGeorge’s International Law program among the top 25 best programs in the country for the fifth year in a row, and among the top 12 programs in trial advocacy for the second year in a row and for the third year of the past six. The National Jurist honored McGeorge among the best schools for practical training in the spring 2016 issue of its PreLaw magazine. In the winter 2016 edition of PreLaw, McGeorge was recognized as No. 3 among 20 top law schools for excellence in public service careers in the government category, along with Notre Dame Law School, Washington University and American University. McGeorge received an A grade in two of the three graded criteria in the magazine.
