I assumed that the 8pm meeting time was also the "dinner time," not a prelude to three hours of pre-meal libations and talking. In Spain, they generally eat very late hours compared with US-Americans, and Spaniards often have a late afternoon snack to tide them over until a leisurely dinner beginning anytime from 9pm to midnight! Good thing to know before you find yourself unintentionally really, really blitzed.
